Vanna: Then… We will leave you to our work, your graces. Garth, if you need any help, radio me. I’m not far.
Pavel smiles up at Lady Halea while Vanna leans down to start guiding him away from the conversation.
Vanna: You did great hon. Let’s get going <3
Before they can get far, however, the head priestess speaks up once more.
Lady Halea: Do you truly believe that Lady Shoshana has abandoned us, LODESTAR?
Vanna turns back. Lady Halea and Garth both stand beside a tall statue of a figure with matching garb to the two religious leaders. She is twice as tall and wields a trident and is illuminated by dozens of candles. The matching silhouettes are a bit eerie. All the same, Vanna brightens at the mention of her work.
Vanna: Hm? Oh, not at all, Ma’am! We only do what she would want us to do in her absence. We’re trying to heal the sea.
Lady Halea: Assuming what the prophetess would want. How BOLD.
Unperturbed by the excuse, Lady Halea continues on with her benign disapproval. Vanna, however, dims considerably. She tries to clarify, not sure where she misstepped in her explanation.
Vanna: We… only assume she was as KIND as everyone says…
Lady Halea remains silent. She holds Vanna’s gaze with her glass eyes, and somehow communicates her point with her entirely still posture and expression. Vanna’s eyes go wide, and her concern shifts into a frown. Swiftly, she turns, pulling Pavel along by the hand. The shadows of Garth and Halea stretch along the hall to play along their heels.
Vanna: Time to go, Pavel. Let’s get you back to the Aquifer.
