Vanna: So… where are all the Fracture Day decorations?
Vanna glances up at the ceiling, bare and pale blue in the light of the pool.
Vanna: I thought the Aquifer would be all dressed up… And I have to admit, it would look amazing…
Pavel: Yeah, it would. But they think it’s too scary for us…
Eddy: It IS too scary for us.
Pavel pulls a towel around his shoulders and rolls his eyes. Eddy pipes up from his place in bed.
Vanna: But Fracture Day isn’t just about the Fracture -- it celebrates the sea as it once was!
She reaches up to touch the point of one of the stars hanging from Pavel’s bed alcove. Her smile is wide and bright, considering the value and beauty of the holiday.
Vanna: Honoring our history, remembering everyone who’s gone before us, looking forward to a better future… Isn’t that what this place is all about?
Eddy: The sea isn’t worth celebrating. It only HURTS people. It’s BROKEN.
Eddy buries himself a little deeper into his book and Vanna looks over to him sadly. Eddy only gives her a suspicious side-eyed look. She pulls her hand away from the decorations and sighs, reaching for something in her pocket.
Vanna: Hm. Maybe this isn’t the best place to celebrate. Too many people here have had lives changed by the sea. I understand.
She holds up her surprise, two blue tickets that read “Grand Physalia *5000th* Fracture Day Maritime Fair. October 31st 5000 AF: Admit one.”
Vanna: So… How about we go somewhere a little more… FESTIVE?
This has finally caught Eddy’s attention, he gasps, leaning forward over Pavel’s shoulder while the other boy stares and slowly realizes what his mother has brought him.
Pavel: Wait… are those… Tickets to GRAND PHYSALIA?!
