Lani sits on the windowsill, hanging her legs outside. The water refracts up onto the ship as she waves a fan, spreading the smoke and steam from the kitchen into the open air. She looks doubtful.
Lani: Even if Phae can smell this, I'm not sure she'll come home to eat. She's in such a bad way. But if her hunger is stronger than her shame, then maybe...
A few seaghosts come up near the window, moaning. Lani panics, smooshing them away with her foot.
Lani: NO! NO! It's not for you! I'm so sorry!
Inside, Cal is handing various food packages into Pavel's bubble of light. Pavel puts one under his arm.
Cal: What a day you've had, Master —
He pauses.
Cal: Actually, may I ask your family name?
Pavel happily puts some boxes on a nearby shelf.
Pavel: Morena! I'm Pavel Leon Morena.
Pavel continues placing the boxes. Cal rummages through the boxes. Katja munches on her meat-covered bone. At the stove and oven, Lani has taken out the tray of scones. She gives a thumbs up to Irving, who gives a thumbs up back.
Cal: Then Master Morena it is. I hated being so informal! Our meeting may have been the work of dark forces, but the benefits have been a tremendous gift! Until we can return you to civilization, we'd be happy to let you call the Mantaluna your home.
